Hello, my name is Jamie. I found this forum via Michael Staley's Typhonian Facebook group. I came in contact with Grant's work two years back when heavily studying A.A. and O.T.O.-related texts. I also came across the 'parareligion' page and was drawn to the writings and mysteries explored there (ie. The Lam Statement drew me in, but the rich assortment of works there fascinated me). Diving into Grant's work (Nightside, I believe), I became drawn to his magickal practice, the Typhon current, and how he used certain elements of fiction and weaved them into the rituals. His practice seemed "wild," chaotic, and full of life and imagination. As a writer and someone who has explored ritual work w/ audio improvisation (ie. "noise" or drone-type of environments), Grant's work resonated pleasantly. I felt a comfort in his approach and openness to tapping into truly unique material. Recently, I've begun revisiting Thelemic texts and am deep in A.A. study at the moment. I also decided to read the Typhonian Trilogies from start to finish and grow in this creative magick approach, as well as work a Typhonian current into my life-practice.
Re: Typhon, there are certain things I still need to look into:
* what kinds of daily practices are recommended?
* how does initiation factor into Typhon (ie. are there grades and exams)?
* who are some supplementary magickians and/or thinkers to study and explore?
I believe these topics are addressed in particular posts. I'll take a look as those will be some of my main intentions for returning to this board, and of course, I welcome any/all related interactions. I look forward to learning and sharing.
Thank you so much.
