H.P Lovecraft came from a family that had its fair share of traumatic experiences. The father, mother and he himself all had some form of mental melt down. The reason I mention this is based on the fact that although its been concluded that Lovecraft was a materialist no- one questions the fact that in terms of been an out-patient to any mental institution, one needs to deny any monsters that live under the bed, otherwise there can be no recovery. With that said, I believe that madness and yes! the outer limits were probably a living reality for Lovecraft.. That darkness at the gate is the madness that im speaking about..Theoretically speaking this has been referred to as the mauve zone which many occult practitioners will face in their life time. As has been said before that when you peer into the abyss it peers back at you... Cant remember who quoted that but give credit where its due. The Typhonian current edges close to that abyss and I suppose thats why its such an exciting development for the world of intellectuals. When I first read Kenneth Grant material I was instantly astounded by his other world knowledge and his ability to assemble the teetered thread where memories fade. I dont think people realize just how difficult it is to wrestle the madness. It changes you forever and most who are not prepared will be swallowed without a chance of redemption. Now thats exciting stuff. lol.

Furthermore. When someone is overwhelmed by emotion, a nervous breakdown is immanent. This event can be likened to a sinking ship that falls to the bottom of the ocean. Could the rise of Cthulhu be a euphomism for the recovery of someone who has had a trauma...Like the sleeping giant in Lovecrafts tales. Cthulhu is the madness that sleeps in the ocean awaiting the time when the stars align to once again break the surface...Well did the stars align in the life of Lovecraft or was he doomed to swim at the tide...Did he find that the world was upside down and the bottom of the ocean was the looking glass into the very stellar awareness that made up his mythology? As above so below... Perhaps that hermetic axiom has more weight when viewed from both opposing sides.
