Yes, this is the most complete collection. Easily the nicest collection of the commentaries, it's one of the nicest/prettiest of the Crowley works (somewhat)widely available. The only works I'd call comparable to it at the time are the 1st Edition of Gems From The Equinox, and Motta's Gold Equinox. *Pretty* books.

This book is one of my most cherished possessions, a true talisman and the best commentary on the Book of the Law. A Starfire reprint of this would be most welcome! I second all of that

Revisiting this, don't the Crowley copyrights expire at the end of this year? (Michael mentioned "
" in the " Magick " thread ).
Sooo.... that leaves only Grant's material in his edition of the commentaries retaining copyright status, which means presumably that Starfire would alone have right to publish this particular edition of the Crowley commentaries, which is a nice reversal of fortune. I'm sure it would sell like hotcakes.
I was lucky enough to read it in a borrowed copy in the 90s but never managed to secure a copy of this particular volume to date. I herewith join the list of subscribers to such a title (and the Liber Aleph, and basically anything else Grant commented on).

Finally after 4 years from this post, I did actually get M&PCOBOL at just over £110, earlier this year and the same price for Motta's Commentaries. "For pure will, unassuaged of purpose, delivered from the lust of result, is every way perfect." (AL I:44)

Not all of them. Work which Crowley published, as well as work published up to twenty years after his death, comes out of copyright in Europe at the end of this year. However, unpublished material will remain in copyright until 2039.
The copyright holders regards the publications of the commentaries - whether by Motta, or by Grant & Symonds - as unauthorised, thus making the material effectively unpublished and hence still in copyright.
I'd love to republish Magical and Philosophical Commentaries on The Book of the Law, but it would need to be with the permission of the copyright holders.

Thanks for clarifying, Michael.
Something to look forward to, then...

Have Grant's introduction and notes to this edition ever appeared anywhere else besides this book? Are they available online at all? I had to unfortunately part with my copy some years back and most commentaries are available on Hermetic.com but it is Grant's introduction and notes that don't seem to have surfaced. If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be wonderful. I found some of the Grant/Symonds notes on one site dedicated to Liber AL but they are not complete.
